Commodore 64

An old setup of my C64

Our first home computer was, as in many other families some decades ago, a Commodore 64 with a tape station (disk stations were not as common in Europe as they were in the US). It was the Christmas of 1992 that we got an used one in present. I was in first grade and had quite recently learned to read in Swedish, so to use a computer with only a BASIC interpreter in English was a feat. I cannot say that I learned to master it, but I could load games and print text on the screen with the PRINT and GOTO statements.

That perticular C64 is still at our parents and seldom used; in the photograph to the left is one that I bought for myself in 2008 when a friend of mine triggered my interest for old computers (I would still like to have a Amiga, though I never grew up with one), gaming consoles (I have a NES and a SNES is on my wish-list), assembler programing and chip music (especially SID tunes). He also introduced me to the, still existing, demoscene and I have since then been to a few demoparties: LCP, Datastorm (twice) and Edison (the first and second). Nota bene that I have never released anything nor entered any compo (demoscene slang for competition).
